GAVS team is as colourful and vibrant as the sector in Greenwich. Coming from very different backgrounds the GAVS staff is working together to provide services that support the delivery and development of all voluntary, community and faith organisations and to support and develop the voice of the sector.
Chris Rees is a GAVS Development Officer with responsibility for Children and Young People. Chris arrived in Greenwich with a range of experience, both in the UK and overseas. He started his career with VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas), spending 2 years working on education and community projects in rural Ethiopia. Following this experience he was based in London for a number of years working on projects relating to education and, specifically, school exclusion; first in a small community based organisation in Islington, and then nationally with Save the Children. His last job before coming to GAVS was in Tajikistan, Central Asia where he managed an organisation providing legal support for children in conflict with the law.
