Cuts: plan for worst, hope for best

The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) has published an update to its 2011 Counting the Cuts report, looking at the scale of cuts so far and those still to come.  The report predicts continued challenges for the sector, with further cuts to government funding alongside a worsening outlook for other traditional sources of income.  However the authors note the range of strategies that charities have pursued so far to survive and express cautious optimism for the longer term.

GAVS has updated its Children’s Safeguarding Web Page with comprehensive information on all aspects of safeguarding including resources, training, where to go for the new DBS Checks (formerly CRB) and much more.  Any organisation whose work brings it into contact with

 

  • children,
  • young people or
  • families,

should ensure it is up to date with safeguarding requirements.
