Tragic death of Hungarian Cultural and Heritage Society Chair

It is with great sadness and shock that GAVS learnt of the tragic death of Attila Kubanda, Chair of the Hungarian Cultural & Heritage Society (HC&HS), who died in a car accident on the 27th July, along with his fiancée. Attila was a founding member of HC&HS and his enthusiasm, vision and commitment enabled the group to grow into an active society, bringing together not just Hungarians, but the wider local community, in Greenwich and elsewhere in London. Jo from GAVS said ‘Attila was a lovely, warm, friendly person and I was always impressed by the way he started and developed HC&HS. He made an important contribution to Greenwich, London and his Hungarian community; he will be sadly missed by all.’ HC&HS are planning to set up a bench for his memory in Maryon Wilson Park, near where Attila lived. A tribute to Attila and news about the accident can be read here. If you would like to contact HC&HS, details are on their HC&HS website and email Oliver Fatyol, the Treasurer.
