Not everyone can carry the Olympic  torch  However marigolds have been chosen as the Olympic symbol of the torch . So that the local community can feel part of and participate in the Olympic torch carrying celebration too,GOVS with the help of   sheltered accommodation schemes  who have helped grow them , are going to hand out marigolds in  orange pots to spectators who will be following the procession  so that symbolically, if not in practice,, they too can carry the torch .
